MARGARETE'S SHIRAZ - Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale

A full bodied, dry red displaying exceptional rich intense chocolate and mint characters.
First release 1995 Vintage

2006 JOHN’S BLEND – MARGARETE’S SHIRAZ – NO.12

Colour - Deep red with purple hues.
Nose - Intense youthful chocolate/mint with integrated dark fruit/complex oak overtones.
Palate - Medium to full bodied. Vibrant fruit, youthful flavour showing, chocolate and spice. A wine showing exceptional length on palate with supporting fine tannins and oak complexity.
A red certainly enjoyable now and will develop more complexity with bottle age.  

2005 JOHN’S BLEND – MARGARETE’S SHIRAZ – No.11

Colour - Bright intense red with purple hues.
Nose - Very “up front” youthful fruit with complex chocolate overtones   combined with vanillin oak characters.
Palate - A fruit driven style; full bodied with rich dark chocolate/berry/spice flavours. This red at present is very “youthful”, rich and flavoursome. It will certainly benefit from further bottle ageing, say 8-10 years to peak.

2004 JOHN’S BLEND – MARGARETE’S SHIRAZ – No.10

Colour – Intense deep red with purple hues.
Nose – Very intense/youthful rich fruit driven style with complex pepper/spice characters.
Palate – Intense fruit of dark chocolate with vanillin oak. The palate, while youthful, displays very soft berry/spice flavours.
A very rich flavoursome wine that will certainly benefit from further bottle ageing - 10 -12 years to peak.

2003 JOHN’S BLEND – MARGARETE’S SHIRAZ – No.9

Colour – Deep red with some purple hues.
Nose – Great intensity. Fruit driven with complex oak.
Palate – Intense fruit of chocolate with vanillin oak. Shows very complex peppery characters that Shiraz produces in some years. Will benefit from, say 8 years plus bottle aging.

2002 JOHN'S BLEND - MARGARETE'S SHIRAZ - No.8

Deep red with some purple hues. This is a rich, intense Shiraz displaying spice/pepper and complex vanillin oak nose.
The combination of subtle Langhorne Creek and rich McLaren Vale fruit has resulted in a red of excellent palate-weight and structure.
While still youthful, this wine shows the softness and intense flavour resulting from oak maturation. This wine will certainly benefit with further bottle maturation - excess of 10 years to peak.

2001 JOHN’S BLEND – MARGARETE’S SHIRAZ - No.7

Deep red, with purple hues in colour.
Rich berry fruit and complex spice/pepper on nose. The palate, while youthful, displays very soft berry / chocolate flavours.
An intensely rich flavoursome wine that will certainly benefit from further bottle aging. 10 - 15 years to peak.

2000 JOHN’S BLEND – MARGARETE’S SHIRAZ- No.6

Deep red, some purple hues in colour with a rich berry fruit and strong vanillin overtones on the nose. Intense berry / chocolate flavours on the palate. Youthful with very soft tannins. Rich and very drinkable now, but the fine tannins will ensure longevity. 10 - 15 years to peak.

1999 JOHN’S BLEND – MARGARETE’S SHIRAZ - No.5

Colour - Intent and with purples evident.
Nose - Great intensity and berry like aromas. Very much fruit driven.
Palate - This wine shows "youthfulness". However the intensity of fruit gives the wine some "softness". With time further "chocolate" and "pepper characters will evolve.
An extremely rich and intense wine which will benefit from further bottle aging - 8 years plus.
